Camping Lake George in early june

Hi we are going camping in early June, actually June 6-8th and hoping to get some good campsite recommendations. We are 12 in total all in our late 20 to mid 30%26#39;s so we are not looking for a campground that has a pool, kiddie activities, family oriented, etc...what we are looking for is lakefront sites, that are kind of secluded and not where your sites is practically on top of the next person%26#39;s. Any good recomendations out there please??

Will you be tenting? With or without a boat?

That weekend Americade will be in town so the tent sites that are accessible by car will have many motorcycles going in/out.

Thats fine - don%26#39;t mind the motorcycles....we are tenting without a boat. Actually, one of the people camping with us may bring their motorcycle so I don%26#39;t mind that.

Thanks.

Well, is you are looking for a campgound on the lake, the State campgrounds are your best bet. However, the only one with sites on the water is Rodger%26#39;s Rock and it%26#39;s pretty remote (about an hour north of the Village). Hearthstone Point has lake access but no sites on the water. Lake George Battleground is across the street and up a hill from the lake. You can find more info and pick your actual camp site(s) at reserveamerica.com. I am unaware of any nice prvate campgrounds on the lake. If you rent a boat, you will have many more options on the islands. HTH.

Just got back camping from Lake george. Went spur of the moment, memorial day weekend, and the campgrounds nearest lake George Village were full. We ended up at Rogers Rock campground. We actually got the last campground. It worked out well, place is neat, clean, everyone friendly. We had a campsite pretty close to the road, but it was well worth it. They sites are pretty close together, but we noticed certain spots with secluded sites were going to try for next time. Theres plenty of bathrooms and showers, and the lake is close from all the sites. Keep in mind of your going during bike week, dont expect peace and quiet AT ALL. Gonna be thousands upon thousands of harleys. 2 things; 1- if your going to be spending most of your time in lake george village, its far. An hour. And the ride gets old day after day. 2-If you dont have a boat, get a boat. Even a little rowboat. You might need about 4 of em, but ive been to Lake george many times and you dont appeciate the lake unless you have a boat.

If thats not a possiblity, rogers rock does have quite a few spots to fish and walk the shore. Also, the northern area of the lake where rogers rock is has alot of designated hiking and fishing trails. I saw alot more of the lake and woods this time around, rather than spending it drunk in a motel, and this was the way to go. Enjoy!!
