Statueof Liberty

My wife and I will arrive at Newark airport this Saturday May 31 at 1:10 p.m. and fly out at 9:15. We want to see the statue of Liberty. Will we have time (this time of year) and what is the best way to do that. If not what else could we see instead of sitting in the airport during that time.

Statueof Liberty

ok Thanks

You can%26#39;t get into the Statue--only on the island and the base of the Statue--and you don%26#39;t have enough time to do Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island because of long lines. The best way to see it with such little time is to take a yellow cab from Newark to Battery Park, which is at the lower tip of Manhattan. Tell the driver to take you to the ferry terminal. Then get on the Staten Island Ferry and do a roundtrip (there%26#39;s nothing to see on SI). It%26#39;s a great ride and it%26#39;s free. 30 minutes each way. Terrific views of the skyline. You can walk to Ground Zero if you want to see that. Within walking distance: Stock Exchange and National Museum of the American Indian--at Bowling Green, right across right across from Battery Park. Three subways at the park will take you almost anywhere else in the city. Art or sites?

Hey thanks a bunch for the advice. I thought the lines might be long. I think this is what we will do. Do you know about how much the cab ride will be from Newark airport to Staten Island ferry? Thanks again

I%26#39;m sorry, I don%26#39;t know for sure, because we usually fly out of LAG or Kennedy, but I would guess about $30 to $35.

I forgot to mention that if you like to walk, the Brooklyn Bridge is within walking distance, too. It%26#39;s a great bridge to walk across, especially at dusk. You would head up Broadway and when you see City Hall, hang a right, and you%26#39;ll see the entrance to the bridge.

The Staten Island ferry terminal is on lower Manhattan.

Personally I think this is a poor choice. The water taxi from Liberty Landing Marina will give you a CLOSER view. Believe me, I%26#39;ve done it.

Where is the liberty landing marina, how much does the water taxi cost, how much does a cab cost from Newark airport to there and is there anything else to see at or near the marina
