10% discount?

Hi,

I was told that a couple of the department stores offer a discount if you show them your passport at customer services. Is this right? If so, which stores do this?

Yep I know Macy%26#39;s do an 11% visitors discount card which you can get by going to Customer Services. Usually you can use it for discount on most things but last time we went (Dec 06) we couldn%26#39;t use it on Perfume or cosmetics.

Bloomingdales does the same and we%26#39;ve heard Lord %26amp; Taylor will too.

Take some ID (we showed our UK drivers licence although you may want your passport to be in the safe side) to customer services in Macys (first floor mezzanine) and you%26#39;ll get a card that allows you 11% discout on everything except make-up and perfume and lasts about 28 days - although I may have this wrong. Whatever, it should last the length of your stay.

The Bloomingdales card is more restrictive and there%26#39;s a long list of things you can%26#39;t use it against (most designer goods are included on this list) and you have to apply for a new one each day.

So not only do folks who are using Euros get to buy things cheaper here than at home, but they also get 10% off??

At Lord %26amp; Taylor, ask the information desk as you walk in (it%26#39;s on the right). The discount there is 15%.

but in our defence, ie the brits, you and your country folk get to claim the tax back on the vast majority of your shopping when you travel around the eu however we dont get such luxury when we visit your shores, apart from the 3 or so shops already mentioned.

Regarding the macys card its worth checking they havent got another better card floating about when we went to ny last year we were quite smug with our 11% card until we were informed that there was a magazine flaoting about with a 15% card for all users regardless of where they resided, also it may be worth noting that certain outlets in macys dont accept the 11% card for instance ralph lauren men, however they allow it off of ralph lauren kids.

All tourists can get the 11% including those from other states of the US. When I was there in November I was in the queue chatting to some very nice ladies from Florida who also had their 11% discount cards.

Yes youre right there are other cards around. We were in a bar one evening and my other half hung up a coat for a rather short lady who could reach the hanger and then got it down for her a few hours later and she gave us a 20% Macys discount card as a thank you.
