The A train runs through Times Square/Midtown, where the vast majority of hotels are.

Yes, the A is the pony to bet on here.

The ';L'; is kind of strange in that while most trains basically follow a north/south route in Manhattan, The L is esssentially a straight east/west route between Williamsburg and the Meatpacking district. The number of hotels directly along its route are rather limited.

Also, in my experience, L service is rather infrequent at night.

why is L infrquent at night. friend%26#39;s daughter is moving to williamsburg for the summer and she was planning on that train as main mode of transportation into city. any infor you can give is appreciated.

I%26#39;m just going on my experience, which may be a bit dated. I just have a lot of unpleasant memories of waiting almost an hour to return from Williamsburg, even though it is only a short distance across the east river.

Here%26#39;s the L subway schedule. The longest wait between trains is 8 minutes.

Sorry, I hit ';post'; too quick. The longest wait NOT in the A.M is 8 minutes. Between midnight and 6:30 the wait can be 20 minutes.

A few years ago there were huge construction-related messes with the L train while they installed new computerized signals all along the line. It was awful. Should be over now - the L is now running all fancy new trains.

Crans ..... I%26#39;m gonna have to ask this again ..... SO PAY ATTENTION !!!! Are you absolutely ..... positively ..... and unequivably sure ..... that you%26#39;re only 28 ? Could you please check your driver%26#39;s license one more time for me. I%26#39;m still having a hard time putting my arms around that concept.

Oh yeah the %26#39;L%26#39; train is a blast ..... except on the weekend when it runs in two sections between Bedford and Manhattan. Fergie where in Billyburg are you going?

This should make you feel better (or worse?) about the L train at night: It%26#39;s a party!!!

';One Time Warner Center'; is a postal address only; there is no street called ';Time Warner Center';. This is in fact the Time Warner building at Columbus Circle. Columbus Circle, besides being the location of, or a short distance from, numerous hotels, is also the location of a subway station served not only by the A train, but also by the C, the B, the D and the 1. Is there any reason why you will only consider the A, and not all the other (and usually more convenient) lines that serve that station?
