Trolls & apartment rentals

Well, I guess the consensus is that xpfloyd is not a troll. I%26#39;ll admit that on reading the initial posting that was by suspicion. So even though I didn%26#39;t comment on the other thread: XP, I%26#39;m sorry...

Specifics aside, I think we can agree on a few things.

A) First of all, there is already a vast corpus of work on this contentious subject, which has been enhanced recently by reported shenanigans in Crans%26#39; building.

B) There are, in fact trolls out there who get off on ';strirring the pot';

I guess there%26#39;s nothing that can be done to prevent people inquiring about vacation apartments. And I would never be one to cramp anyone%26#39;s freedom of expression. But may I humbly propose that, once a poster has been directed the appropriate FAQs and historical threads, it may be prudent to LET IT GO.

The phenomenon of ';piling on'; does little about the underlying problem of illegal rental scams. Questioning the Morality, sanity and hygiene of visitors may help you vent, but it also encourages

the very trollish activity that, I would imagine, most see as a blight upon the board.

On the other hand, if you thrive on conflict, if you actually welcome the opportunity to insult those you%26#39;ve never met in an anonymous setting, flame away. But none of are like that... Are we?

I agree there is plenty of information on this subject that is accessible from the FAQ section. These posts should simply receive the same response by one person with the link/s to the older informative threads then we should all let the post fade down the pages.

Trolls %26amp; apartment rentals

It%26#39;s frustrating.

Add to all the posts on the NYC forum, those that appear on the ';Timeshares/Vacation Rentals'; and the ';Family Travel'; forums; the collection of questions and cautions about NYC apartment rentals is huge.

I must admit that, when I was a newbie on TA, I posted a couple of questions that had been well-covered in previous posts. In eagerness to plan my trip, I hadn%26#39;t taken the time to navigate the site.

There will continue to be ';innocents';, as well as the trolls.

I think this topic should be broken out of the FAQ as its own topic on the top. Maybe then some might read it before posting????

you call it ';piling on';

but there have many people who seem not to take ONE ';no'; for an answer?

they don%26#39;t believe the ONE individual it seems

with some hardheaded folks, it seems the ONLY way they believe anything is when folks ';pile it on';

troffa24 is prime case and example

150+ posts were required to convince him/her to abandon the apartment idea

again and again he/she returned

%26gt;I think this topic should be broken out of the FAQ as its own topic on the top. Maybe then some might read it before posting????%26lt;

I think that would be a good idea, along with ';tips'; perhaps and links to those websites that would help renters figure it out, i.e. property shark or the buildings dept websites.
