I know it is tacky and sad but on my next trip to NYC in september, my boss at work wants me to bring him back a coin that has been stretched by a machine. My last visit, i managed to get one from ESB. Can anyone advise as to where any of these trashy, tacky items can be found?
Stretched coin?
When we%26#39;re in the US we always have to get these for a friend%26#39;s daughter who collects them. We found machines in ESB gift shop, Prospect Park, Central Park Zoo and the Natural History Museum (just outside the gift shop).
Stretched coin?
Here is part of a post from the thread (page two on link below) from jensdad on this very subject:
For locations in NYC, check this website:
pennycollector.com/coins/ny/locations.html
The locations they have listed in New York City are all in Manhattan. They also have some locations in the Bronx and Brooklyn listed separately. I%26#39;m sure some of the information is out-of-date, but it%26#39;s a 鈥ennycollector.com/coins/ny/locations.html

Those ';trashy, tacky items'; are my favourite souvenirs. Sad, I know, but I get a kick out of spinning that wheel...
As in the above post, they are %26#39;penny collector%26#39; machines. You see books to keep them in, in just about every souvenir store.
I know there%26#39;s one at Central Park Zoo - not in the zoo itself so you can just wander past.
Lol...one of my first jobs in the city was manning the machine at the top of the ESB. (Not nearly as fun as it sounded.) I%26#39;m lucky I went to college because I see now that I would have been replaced by the automated one they now have.
Thanks for the web links Kayeen, at least I now know where to look for them when I%26#39;m in DC on the weekend!
Thanks Kayeen for the links, I was a little embarrassed for the post! I was a little worried about the replies that may have come my way.
