I%26#39;ve driven your recommended way and also the US 15 north to the 390 to the 20A (or I 90) right to Buffalo then to Niagara. Both take about the same amount of time. If you take the Pittsburgh route and enjoy architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright%26#39;s Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob are just south of Pittsburgh. I enjoyed the Andy Warhol Museum in downtown Pittsburgh. Also in Buffalo, Frank Lloyd Wrights%26#39; Darwin Martin House is a must see as well as the Albright Knox Museum. If you take the US 15 north you will be close to the Finger Lakes area, once you are travelling on the 390, for scenery and hiking there%26#39;s Watkins Glen State Park and Letchworth State Park - called the Grand Canyon of the east. In Corning, NY there%26#39;s the Corning Glass Museum.

If your a shopper, then Prime Outlets in Grove City, PA exit 213 on I79 between Pittsburgh and Erie. People come from all around including Canada to shop here-- no tax on clothing! Also there are several wineries in the area between Erie and Buffalo.
