I love NY t-shirts... where is best place to get them?

Hi - our girl scout troop will be in NYC for a week in June. We all wear matching shirts each day to help with group identity. We thought that the I Love NY shirts would be a great ';last day'; shirt for our trip home.

Where is a good place? Are they on the streets everywhere? Someone told me they are 3 for $10... is that right?

I saw on a previous post that souvenir shirts are cheapest in Chinatown... could someone give me an idea of price...(other than the i love ny) so i can prepare the girls for how much $ they will need for various items....

Also - I know they will want to get a few of the ';non-designer'; bags... how much do those go for?

Thanks in advance!

you can get the I Love New York t%26#39;s for silly cheap prices.

Another good place to get t-shirts - all sorts, New York ones and loads and loads of other different designs, from sports ones to funny ones, to school ones etc etc, is Steve and Barry%26#39;s in Manhattan Mall. They are 2 for $15 - that%26#39;s adult sizes. Sure kids ones would be cheaper.

Steve and Barrys? Isnt that the place that carrys Sarah Jessica Parker%26#39;s line of clothing? I saw her on Oprah one day and the clothes are CUTE and CHEAP!

When you say silly cheap... how much. Are they really 3 for 10?

In June there are street fairs all over the place. We bought tee shirts in Greenwich Village (6 for $10 and they%26#39;re nice) at a booth. Just keep your eyes pealed as you%26#39;re walking around.

As rassi says = cheap!

It%26#39;s not unusual to see them at tourist stores for 5 or 6 for $10.

Steve and Barry%26#39;s is indeed the home of SJP%26#39;s %26#39;Bitten%26#39; range of clothing.

As a totally non fashion orientated person, I gotta say - I like her stuff. That sounds like an insult! But I mean it well - as in, they are nice clothes that are good for every day and are reasonable! And made in a lot of sizes.

There%26#39;s a store on the corner of 32nd and Fifth that sells them 10 for $14.

BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom and I purchased a lot of shirts for really cheap. I can%26#39;t remember the exact price but it was cheaper than other places. Anyway, we got home and the shirts started peeling. :( Mine started to peel before I even had a chance to wear it. All of my son%26#39;s letters came off his shirt (but the heart was still there..no letters). My mom said the same thing happened to hers. I wish I had paid a bit more and received a better quality shirt. My son was heartbroken (because he loved his shirt) so I had to go on EBAY and purchase a new one for him. The one from EBAY has been great! No problems at all!

yeah but the only thing better than an I Heart NY shirt is a broken in looking I Heart NY shirt!

Thanks, everyone! You all are so helpful. It sure makes it easier for a ';small town south dakotan'; to plan a trip to NYC!!

I%26#39;m not sure how well a group of girls that age will take to being asked to wear identical t-shirts. I%26#39;ve seen tour groups doing this before, and the teenagers look absolutely miserable. To keep them happy, why not let them show off their choice in fashion?

Yes, Alice - my daughter and her friends would rather wear low cut shirts, high cut shorts and whatever, but this is the way we travel in Girl Scouts.

Just think if you were in charge of 20 people getting on and off the subway, getting on and off the bus, in and out of a store... its so much easier to spot one girl left in the store when you know what she%26#39;s wearing.

This will be this group%26#39;s 3rd trip, and they are used to it. Plus - we meet such interesting people when they see our shirts and see we are Girl Scouts!
