Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me with what will probably sound like a stupid question!!!
I am going to NYC in September and am taking my boyfriend to watch the NYJets vs New England Patriots.
Neither of us have ever gone to an American Football game before, and so need to ask whether (like in Engligh soccer) they split the crowd by team to keep them apart, or whether the fans just sit wherever.
None of the ticket websites give any info on this, can anyone advise please?
Also looking for tips on the best way to get from our hotel in Midtown (by the rockerfella centre) to the stadium by train. Are there any particular stations to avoid? Would a bus be better than a train?
Many Thanks,
Tamsworld
Attending an American Football Game
Fans are not separated by section. At a ';home game'; most of the fans are for the home team so most of the stadium will be filled with Jets fans.
It is ROCKEFELLER Center named after a man who%26#39;s name was Rockefeller. (the other spelling is some rap thing)
The Jets play at the Meadowlands. You get there by bus from Port Authority bus terminal. You can walk from your hotel. It%26#39;s at 42 st. %26amp; 8th ave.
Attending an American Football Game
Considering that the game is against the hated New England Patriots, tickets will be even harder to find.
Now you know it%26#39;s not soccer ..... right ?
Despite - or perhaps because of - the violence that takes place in the actual game, there is no real tradition of conflict among fans in the NFL. Actually, organized fighting like that which used to dominate English football, and which still happens in Italy, is largely absent in american sports.
Since it is assumed that fans will behave in a relatively civil manner, measures are not taken to separate them.
Recently, in collegiate sports there%26#39;s been a trend toward fans destroying their own communities after a victory (which sort of baffles me - you%26#39;d think they%26#39;d do that after losing!). BUt that%26#39;s a different matter altogether.
Strange as it may sound, the New York Jets play at Giants Stadium at the Meadowlands complex in New Jersey. As whiz said, the best way to get there is on the New Jersey Transit bus; here is information:

Have you already purchased tickets? If not, be aware you won%26#39;t be able to do so through the New York Jets website. Try www.stubhub.com
Very helpful - thanks all. Much appreciated.
Lotuspath - yes we know its not soccer!!! LOL.....I was just using the example of when fans from differing teams are kept apart!
Thanks,
Tamsworld
ROCCO46 - Thanks for the link to stubhub. Nearly didnt get the tickets as they wouldnt accept UK billing addresses....but persevered and finally got through to a really nice man who agreed to put the order through for me as long as I had the tickets delivered to the US. Phew! He even waived the postage charge too!
Got great seats, just within budget. Really pleased. Thanks again for the link - appreciate it!

I take it none of you have been to an Eagles game
AERULES - Hilarious, thanks for that.
Also, I%26#39;m guessing nobody has been to a Broncos v. Raiders game in Oakland - seriously very scary.
That said, ';very scary'; is probably nothing compared to what I%26#39;ve seen of UK/European football games.
JAWP - I don%26#39;t think the post-game rioting in college sports is a new development - it%26#39;s been going on since the 1980%26#39;s, if not earlier. If there is anything that can be said for it, there is very rarely person-on-person violence, it%26#39;s mostly person-on-stop-sign violence.
