To take the subway into Manhattan from JFK, you have to first ride the AirTrain to get to the subway station of your choice - there are two possibilities. The fare for the AirTrain is $5, which, I believe, needs to be on a pay-per-ride MetroCard; I don%26#39;t think you can use an unlimited ride MetroCard, such as the 7-Day, for the AirTrain portion of the trip. I think your unlimited ride card would then be good for the $2 subway fare into the city. Others who know with certainty can confirm that or not. Here is a link to information about the AirTrain at JFK:

Yes, you can take the bus to Woodbury Commons; scroll down on this link to information about the bus. I believe the ShortLine Coach is more popular:

Hope this helps.

Re: outlet malls:

1. there%26#39;s another mall which is NOT and outlet mall called ';Woodbury Commons'; - with an ';s'; - on Long Island.

2. There%26#39;s an outdoor shopping mall which is NOT and outlet mall ACROSS THE HIGHWAY from the actual Woodbury Common Outlet Mall. I don%26#39;t know the name of that mall, but it%26#39;s the first turn off the highway, rather than the second.

3. There%26#39;s also Jersey Gardens in NJ, no sales tax.

4. In the FAQ ';sticky'; at the top of this forum are these threads on outlet malls. Hope it helps!

ANY NEARBY OUTLET MALLS? Yes, the most popular being Woodbury Common, about one hour north of NYC.

BUT, IS WOODBURY COMMON BETTER THAN JERSEY GARDENS?

Sorry, QB, I accidentally put an ';s'; on the end of Common; meant to say Woodbury Common. The link is still correct, I hope...

There is actually a Q.10 bus to Kew Gardens which enables you to avoid the $5.00 JFK Air Train fare. I haven%26#39;t taken this bus since I was a poor starving student (okay, I was never starving but I was trying to maximize my dollars). The Q. 10 bus is slow and I don%26#39;t even know where it stops these days.

The JFK AirTrain requires a Pay Per ride card, the unlimited ride card doesn%26#39;t work for the Air Train.

You automatically get a 15% bonus on all pay per ride cards above $7.00 now. You can buy a $17.50 card and it will have $20.00 value. $20.00 is enough for two roundtrips (you and your wife). Be careful, if using the MetroCard at Howard Beach A train station, exit as though you were going to Howard Beach, then re-enter the subway using your unlimited ride card. If you exit the Air Train directly to the subway it will charge you $7.00 instead of $5.00. Tricky.

Woodbury Common is easy to reach using public transportation. Woodbury Common has become so popular you don%26#39;t even need to go to Port Authority Bus Terminal. I see buses all over the city picking people up for Woodbury Common, I think they%26#39;re Short Line (they say Coach USA on them). They%26#39;re nice big buses, not dinky little things.

Re Q1 - I took the Airtrain to the subway station. When you reach the station you buy your Airtrain AND subway ticket here. You can buy the 7 day subway ticket here and use it to get into Manhattan.

Hi

I%26#39;m back again with 2 questions:) I%26#39;ve read alot fo good things about Ross stores and marshalls. I found marshalls 125 West 125th Street, is this the biggest store in the area??

Regarding ross where is the nearest??

No answer ?

The Marshalls in Harlem is the only one in Manhattan. There is another within walking distance to the Atlantic Avenue subway station in Brooklyn. I don%26#39;t know which store is larger.

There is no Ross store in New York; the closest would be New Jersey.
