Not sure of the actual prices but saw another poster had bought a cheap pay as you go phone and used it when in NYC. If you are a Sky subscriber and have SkyTalk in the UK they can call mobiles in the US FOC. That way, you could text home saying you are in your hotel and they could call the room.

Remember it%26#39;s a 1 hour maximum so after 59 mins hang up the phone and redial.

I think a lot of hotels have machines in the lobby for telephone cards and I used these and they were very good for landline calls and fairly cheap. There is a flat rate at the start of calls charged but after that you can talk for a long time. I think most people could have used a $10 card for a week if calling 2 or 3 times. All depends on how long you are using it for really. Just to check in with family and friends and this should be fine. I ended up using them a lot due to a problem my friend had but didn%26#39;t find it overly expensive.
