I%26#39;m taking a trip to NYC this August with my girlfriend, and she really wants to take a cruise.
We%26#39;re not looking for a long trip. Maybe an hour or two?
Can anyone suggest a couple of good companies to go with? Or ones to stay away from?
Thanks very much for your help!
Suggestions for a Cruse Around Manhattan?Pardon my mis-spelling in the title.
Suggestions for a Cruse Around Manhattan?Hi seanryann,
I took the Circle Line harbour cruise when I was there a few years ago and I liked it. I%26#39;ll be taking it again in June.
I actually got the CityPass through Airmiles and it includes the 2 hour cruise along with 5 other attractions. You can either go during the day, or do the Harbour Lights cruise in the evening.
If you want something fancier (and more $$$), there are a few other options out there...but I%26#39;ll let the experts fill you in on those.
This company offers a variety of cruises that are less than two hours:
www.sail-nyc.com
Their boats are smaller than most of the other tour companies and I think that makes it a nicer trip. They don%26#39;t yet have a lot of listings for August but they tend to do the same trips from month to month so you could look at the June calendar to get an idea of what will be available in August.
If you like what you see, you should sign up as a member of www.goldstar.com (free to register) because they offers discounts on these cruises.
Circle Line is the one used most. It%26#39;s basic and offers 2 or 3 hr. cruises but also a night lights tour.
Other options with different tours are
nywaterway.com
nywatertaxi.com
Agree that the smaller boats from
sail-ny.com
shearwatersailing.com
are very nice. There are also dinner cruises like
bateauxnewyork.com
Finally, the FREE Staten Island ferry is a popular way to see the Statue of Liberty for free. ;)
Does the water taxi commuter line only run during the week?
I greatly appreciate all of your help! Thanks so much. I%26#39;ll definitely look into all your suggestions.
Thanks again all.
Cheers,
seanryann
