Accommodation in NY.. where do we start?

Hi everyone,

I desperately need help - we are 4 females (25-30) that require accomm for first week in Aug. We have no idea where to start to look for accomodation. To give you some background we plan to explore NY during the day and see all the toursist places and then at night hope to check out some bars and clubs. We dont want to stay at hostels but want a cheaper hotel (no more than 300usd per night)... any advice...

$300/night = ~$255 plus tax

If you want to be near bars and clubs, staying south of midtown (Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Soho) would be best.

The Hampton Inn Chelsea has a room with 2 queen beds for around your budget which wouldn%26#39;t be a bad option (but it%26#39;s a smoking room). There%26#39;s a brand new Hampton Inn opening in Soho (supposedly July 15) that has rooms with 2 doubles for a bit above budget. The Four Points Sheraton Chelsea has rooms with 2 doubles for just above budget.

I don%26#39;t see anything available for 4 in the village.

We got a good deal over xmas from the wellington hotel...might be worth a look i thought the xmas rate i got was a right bargain for location !!

Check out www.carltonarms.com. a female friend and I both stayed there last September for 2 weeks. It%26#39;s very cheap and safe. It is very bohemian, so don%26#39;t expect too much, but we were both really happy with it.

Hi there,

I just booked into the Flatotel in midtown New York in September. I got a good deal through lastminute.com, I think it worked out to about $300 per night. The hotel reviews are excellent, its in a great location, and they have huge rooms - great to store all our shopping and be able to chill out in. There are two of us in the same room so we didnt want to be all cramped up and living on top of each other. There is also free access to the gym, and reduced prices for a swimming pool nearby if we fancy a dip (we like a swim!)

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for from your hotel, but would definitely recommend reading reviews for the hotel on this website before booking as you might find out some important bits of info which might sway your decision. (if you do this, remember to look at the dates of the reviews as you might be reading out of date info!)
