Best restaurant to celebrate a 10th birthday?!

We are traveling to NYC next week with three kids age 16, 14, and 10. We have reservations at Buddakan, bar Ameracain, and Mercer Kitchen while we are there. I need a recommendation for a casual, fun spot to eat on thursday night to celebrate my sons 10th birthday. Any suggestions? We are staying at the NY athletic club and will take a taxi or walk to whatever is suggested.

Otto, on about Fifth Avenue and first street, downtown, could be a good location. It is a Mario Batali spot with good food, lots of options (including great thin crust pizzas) and a fun crowd.

I%26#39;d take my family to Junior%26#39;s to celebrate a 10th birthday! Desserts are great and the place is packed and lively and loud. It%26#39;s just fun and has a ';disney'; kind of atmosphere (which isn%26#39;t bad if you%26#39;re 10).

You%26#39;ll probably find a lot of suggestions if you do a forum search here. Have fun and Happy Birthday wishes to your son!

How about Ninja? I can%26#39;t think of any 10 year old boy that wouldn%26#39;t love it.

Thanks for the great suggestions! Can%26#39;t wait to explore the city! Kids have never been there, and it%26#39;s been ten years for me since my last visit.

You%26#39;ve got thousands of choices but I%26#39;d recommend

Serendipity 3

www.serendipity3.com

225 E 60th St

New York, NY 10022

(212) 838-3531

Just a block from Bloomingdales and just around the corner from Dylans Candy Bar (Ralph Lauren%26#39;s daughter)

I don%26#39;t think they take reservations - but you could call and ask. There is always a line.

Another place you might consider is Alice%26#39;s Tea Cup

They have a few locations, one near Bloomingdales.

Enjoy your trip and birthday celebration !

I know that my now 12 year old son would have loved to take the subway to Brooklyn, enjoy a wonderful pizza at Grimaldi%26#39;s then walk back across the Brooklyn Bridge. The view is stunning especially if accomplished at sunset. I would then take the subway to Ellen%26#39;s Stardust Diner in midtown for dessert with singing waitstaff. (51st and Broadway). You could also put your son%26#39;s name in lights at the Hershey Store. How terrific would it be to see ';Happy Birthday _____!'; on a marquis in Times Square? This is indeed a casual night but I think it would be quite memorable! Moms

Scarpenter: I don%26#39;t want to disagree with you but in my recent experience Serendipity 3 has slipped. It was once a ';must do'; for families but it%26#39;s quality just isn%26#39;t what it once was. I realize this is just my opinion but it is a bit out of the way and, as I say, the quality isn%26#39;t that great. Moms

Dylan%26#39;s candy bar was on our list for after dinner, so Serendipity is a great suggestion! I remember seeing the hot chocolate featured on Regis and Kelly...

We will hit Juniors for a breakfast after reading great reviews, and Otto for dinner - Kids love Mario Batali on Iron Chef!

Thanks again everyone!

I%26#39;ve also heard that Serendipity isn%26#39;t as good as it used to be. I honestly have not been there for years. But still ... how bad could it be? The lines are always there. If I were a tourist - I%26#39;d go and if you give up. Forty Carrots in Bloomingdales isn%26#39;t all that bad.

Personally I%26#39;d choose Alices Tea Cup.

Are you talking about Juniors in Brooklyn?

I hope not.

For breakfast you might try Popovers on the upper west side. Its fun and the food is good. Not a tourist place.

I personally think Mars 2112 would be fun for a kids and teens. We were 6 adults and an 11 year old and 16 year old. What fun!

Can%26#39;r really remember the food but the whole experience was amazing..the cast members were so much fun!
