Hotel Near Bronx zoo

Our kids love the Bronx zoo. We%26#39;ve been to NYC before but want to stay near the zoo this time. Can someone recommend a hotel near the Bronx zoo?

There is a Howard Johnson hotel in walking distance to the Bronx zoo. You can check reviews to see if you like the comments. I have never stayed there.

there are no decent hotels in that area or in any of the Bronx, unfortunately. Ihave lived in the Bronx all my life and love sections of it, but hotels are not one of its good features.
