Married on ';Cloud Nine';

As people often ask about getting married in NYC, I wanted to share an idea...

My 72 year old father in law got married (for the third time, don%26#39;t ask) this weekend on the ';Cloud Nine';, a beautiful modern ship which is docked at 23rd Street and the FDR. I think the boat holds 125-150, but as he had about 90 guests, it was perfect. I think this is the website http://www.cloudninecharters.com/cloud4.html

I have no idea what it costs, but it was really cool - my out of town cousins were flabergasted at the views, etc., and even for us locals, it was a unique view. My 3 year old son had a look of sheer amazement on his face and was literally jumping up and down saying ';the Brooklyn Bridge'; or ';the Statue of Liberty';

We left at 6 pm, went up the East River towards the 59th Street Bridge, the ceremony took place in front of the UN, we then turned around, made our way to the Hudson River, went about to 125th Street, then turned around. We ended up going back in forth in front of the Empire State Building for a few turns before heading back at 11. There is a garage right there, but we parked a block away on 23rd (I won%26#39;t pay to park unless absolutely necessary, and on a Sunday in the summer, no way).

The service was great - not sure if its part of the boat or a seperate caterer. The food was not wonderful, but I dont know if it was the selection or the fact that I was at an incredibly lavish wedding the night before (making this my third wedding in eight days) and was a little tired of wedding food.

Anyway, even if you can%26#39;t afford this boat or dont need something this big, getting married on a boat around NYC was a great experience.

Sounds like a great idea and the photo opportunities would be fabulous.
