Hi
We got married just over 5 weeks ago in New York but still haven%26#39;t received our marriage certificate. We were told by the travel company we booked through that it can take 4-6 weeks for it to be posted back to our UK address. Just wondering how long it has taken for other people to receive theirs?
Many thanks
Anyone from UK got married recently in New York?
Don%26#39;t know about the certificate question, but how about giving us a trip report while you%26#39;re waiting?
:o)
Congratulations!!

I got married in NY and City Hall managed to lose our wedding certificate....it took an age to get a duplicate with lots of transatlantic phone calls and waiting for duplicate paperwork that had to be filled in and then sent to our minister and witness. Without a friend who lives in NY who managed to take the replacement documents into City Hall by hand and a very helpful guy at City Hall it would have taken even longer.
Hope your situation turns out to be just a slow postal service.
Congratulations!
Where did you get married? I take it you used a travel company to arrange it? Did you have an officiant or use one of the %26#39;registry offices%26#39;?
We got married there last year in Brooklyn Borough Hall and took our certificate away with us on the day, I did hear about someone rushing around afterwards to various different offices just so they had their certificate to take home with them.
Give us somemore info! Have you rang anyone in NY since?
Hi,
I got married 29th October 2006 and was told that it could take up to 6 weeks for our certificate. We didn%26#39;t receive ours until mid december. But we were told that there was a backlog, so perhaps yours is just waiting in a pile of paperwork?
Hope it isn%26#39;t lost and that you receive it soon :)
hey MrsG2Be, worse case scenario - you have to back to NY!!! Woohooo!!
Thanks for your replies, folks. If it hasn%26#39;t arrived by middle of next week, will start to call.
Wouldn%26#39;t mind another trip to NY to sort it out in person - lol! Dont%26#39; know if the bank balance could stand it though.....:o)
We booked a wedding package through Kuoni. We were supposed to get married in a gazebo in Central Park on 5th Sept however the weather was against us on the day, and it rained! We did have an alternative location lined up - the chapel at Central Presbyterian Church on Park Ave. It was so lovely that we are quite glad it rained!! The wedding coordinators used by Kuoni were fab. The minister/officiant was lovely, and it was a lovely service. We had quite a small group of family/friends with us so we went for dinner at the Boat House in Central Park, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had a fabulous day.
We were in New York for just over 2 weeks so we managed to fit in so much but there still seems so much that we didn%26#39;t see/do! We loved Central Park. We walked the Brooklyn Bridge on the day we went to Municipal Building to get our marriage licence, and visited the WTC site. Did the Downtown/Uptown/Night loop open-top bus tours. Went on the 3 hour cruise round Manhattan. Visited Ellis Island (which was brilliant!). Did the Empire State Building twice (once during the day %26amp; once at night. Took our breath away both times) Shopped till we dropped! Spent a day at the outlets at Woodbury Common. Walked and walked for miles....it is hard to remember what we did when, we packed in so much. One of the highlights for us both was Broadway on Broadway. I think the highlight for my husband was the night we went to see the Jets play at Meadowlands!!
Keeping our fingers crossed that the marriage cert turns up soon!
Cheers!
