East 102nd to Natural History Museum

I%26#39;ll be staying up on E.102nd street and was wondering if there is a quick way to get across Central Park to the Natural History Museum.

On the map of Central Park that I%26#39;ve seen there seem to be some roads going across it. Can taxis use these roads or will we have to go to around the top or bottom of the park and then back up the other side to the museum?

Yes, those roads are open to traffic--I believe one of them is 79th Street.

Those are transverse roads that go through the park. The taxi cab driver has three choices to get across the park from E. 102nd St. He can use the 96th St., 86th St. or 79th St. transverse road..

You can go to 96th Street and Lexington Avenue and take the croos town bus. It is very fast, and since there are no stops in teh park you reach the West Side in no time at all (approx. less than 5 minutes from 96th Street %26amp; Lexington Avenue) - get of at the Central Park West Stop.

I agree, take the crosstown bus
