Nba Vests

I%26#39;ll be in New York for 5 nights from 10th-15th March and have promised my 3 boys (age 16, 12 and 10) will bring them back NBA vests. I%26#39;m staying in East Village, whereabouts would be the best place to get them.

Go to Modell%26#39;s (various locations), the NBA Store (E. 53rd Street and 5th Ave), or at Madison Square Garden (W. 33rd St and 7th Ave.), either the official store inside, or the mom-n-pop store on the street level.

In NYC, you%26#39;ll probably only find Knicks and Nets apparel. Do you want another team?

There are a number of subways in the EV, plus a few buses, too, so no worries!

queensboulevard - I think the name of the hostel we are staying in is called Village Inn. Apparently it is new and only opened 1st Feb.

I shouldn%26#39;t get too lost when in NY considering I%26#39;m with a party of 50+ university students!!! I%26#39;m afraid its a working trip for me, but I do intend on indulging in some fine food and drink and plenty of retail therapy!!!! (heres hoping!!)

The NBA store would probably be your best bet (on 5th Ave). It has almost every team and they have a huge kids range, so you can be sure you would get the right sizes. My husband spent about an hour in just that one shop!!! They also have a section where you can ';shoot some hoops';! (Forgive me, I am a woman from Lancashire and know nothing about basketball!!)

By the way, even though we understand what you are asking for, the proper name to use for these sports apparel is jerseys. The sales people in the stores will give you a funny glance if you use the word %26#39;vest%26#39;.

Hit the NBA store between 3 and 5pm on a weekday. They have a promotion where you can shoot foul shots for discounts and prizes.

I agree strongly with broadwaynyc. In the US, ';vest'; is a synonym for ';waistcoat';. To an American, these are %26#39;vests';:

If you ask for a ';vest';, a salesclerk will be thinking you are looking for such items, and will probably tell you that he deosn%26#39;t have ';NBA vests';, and has never seen one anywhere else, either.

The only item I can think of being asked for in a sport good store that involves the word %26#39;vest%26#39; is lifevest also called lifejacket - item worn boating, canoeing, etc to prevent drowning when thrown overboard.
