First time vistor to New york going at end of October for 6 or 7 days, looking for a cheap clean hotel in midtown or other good area for shopping and sight seeing. Would rather spend money on shows and sightseeing tours than on expensive hotels. Any suggestions
October in New York
What do you consider to be cheap?
October in New York
The sights are all over town, so as long as you are somewhat close to the subway, getting around is very easy. October is an expensive time of year to visit. Be aware the average hotel is over $300 per night. Please do reply with your budget, and people will be able to make suggestions.
Traditionaly, october is one of the most busy months so book early. Averave rates last year were about $300-350.
If you do decide to come around mid-October, you really shouldn%26#39;t come this far without trying to see the amazing foliage for one day up in New England as it will be at its peak then. Just not sure what the best way to do that would be, short of maybe taking a train up to Connecticut somewhere, renting a car, and doing a day trip....
End of Oct. can be very expensive b/c of Halloween, the NYC Marathon first Sun. in Nov. and election day first Tues. in Nov. You won%26#39;t find cheap. The Econo Lodge Times Square has very small rooms but it well located and clean and may be one of the few options for under $300/night.
Don%26#39;t know much about NYC hotels but I can say that October is absolutely the best time of year here. Agree that it%26#39;s not as fabulous, foliage-wise as in New England, but still pretty fabulous.
The horrid humid weather of late summer is gone, but still usually mild enough to walk around without a jacket. All kinds of energy because of the events mentioned, the beginning of the academic year, etc.
Jeez it%26#39;s not even Memorial Day yet, and here I am longing for fall...
why don%26#39;t you try the Chelsea Pine Inn or the Leonardo Suite at West Eleventh townhouse or apartments2book.com
