Best limo service?

Hi All

I am travelling to NYC next month as part of a massive 7 week holiday around the States and Canada. I%26#39;m arriving into JFK at 5.20pm. Someone has suggested to me Carmel Limo as it%26#39;s very reasonably priced but I have also heard of this Dial7 company. What%26#39;s the difference? Is one recommended more than the other?

Also I was thinking of buying those smaller bottles for toiletries(ie shampoo/conditioner)and putting them in my checked baggage. As they will not be labelled will this present a problem at customs in LAX(my flight stops LA to re-fuel but I get back on the same plane). This may seem a silly question but I am trying to make my luggage as light as possible and don%26#39;t want to encounter any problems!

Thanks in advance!

Arriving at JFK, a taxi is also an option as it%26#39;s a fixed price of $45 to anywhere in Manhattan. (plus toll and tip which will total $60). Carmel and Dial7 are similar cos. that are ';cheap and cheerful'; with individual drivers owning their own cars so some cars/drivers are better than others. Neither service is perfect. Lately there seem to be fewer complaints about Dial7, but they are similar. If you just take a taxi, avoid anyone who approaches you. Only take an official yellow taxi from the line outside the terminal with the dispatcher.

Can%26#39;t help on bottles but I don%26#39;t think there%26#39;s any law about bottles in luggage requiring labels.

There are no security regulations cocerning bottles/liquids in checked baggage. ( short of it can NOT explode!!!) The regs are only concerning what is in your carry on.

My opinion is that Carmel and Dial 7 are about the same. Check online for coupons.

I live in NYC and usually book cars only to go to the airport. Its usually easier to just take the yellow taxi for $45 flat rate to get home.

If you reserve it seems you then have to call once you have your luggage and they send someone who is free and waiting. If the taxi lines are long, they also are short of cars as people just call 777-7777 from their cells and take the cars.

Sometimes I think you can find people in the taxi line to share with / its a good savings, don%26#39;t be shy.

After my bad experience with Carmel 18 months ago I wouldn%26#39;t ever use them again. They may have improved since then though.

We just used Strusser on our May trip and they were fantastic - they were a bit more expensive but to me, it%26#39;s worth paying the extra to get a good service.

Have a great time.
