buddakan tables

Hi, I%26#39;m off to NYC on Sunday for a week (as you know!!) and managed to get myself an 8pm at Buddakan. it%26#39;s just for 2 people and i%26#39;ve read articles about couples being seated on the communal tables.

this would be a bit of a disaster - do i need to call up and request a private table? where should I ask to be seated?

Thanks y%26#39;all.

I would call the restaurant directly and speak to them about your preference.

(Bumping, in case someone else has the answer.)

No ..... No ..... No ..... sorry to say this ..... but I think there are only big huge irreverent Buddhist commercializing %26amp; %26#39;disrespecting%26#39; communal tables. You%26#39;ll just have to disrespect the Buddha privately in your own home.

I took 2 clients there and we sat at our own table - not a communal table upstairs. Even though they disgrace the Buddha image....

(I went before meeting my good friend LotusPath!)

but, call them to be sure

meant to read we sat at own table upstairs, not a communal table upstairs

Hi there, was there 2 weeks ago with girlfriend so booked table for two. Never specified what we wanted, got there and were seated upstairs on table for two overlooking big hall, these were great seats, by the way congrats on going to an amazing restaurant, everything about it was great the food, atmosphere, service and place itself. Enjoy

exellent. i%26#39;m slightly reassured by this.

Is the whole place full of beautiful people wearing expensive / barely-there clothes or can we rock up quite comfortably in jeans (smart)?

Thanks,

Annie x

I%26#39;ve been to Buddakahn.

I%26#39;ve been there in a party of two, there are many, many tables that aren%26#39;t communal tables. It should not be an issue at all. I%26#39;d call and mention it first though.

Be sure to try the edamame dumplings.

jeans would be fine, everyone is dressed really well but as far as i know there was no dress code, as long as you have made an effort you will be fine in whatever you wear

I like that Annie from London says ';y%26#39;all.';

Travelingguy, LOL!

Annie, Here are some pictures I just posted,

I think they use the communal tables for large groups. Thee are plenty of places to sit for couples and even groups of 4 like we had.

Just so you know in comparison to other big cities, NYC isn%26#39;t a ';dress up'; kind of place. It is smart casual.
