Places to go after-Theater?

Where is agood place to go after theater to maybe get a couple fo drinks and listen to music?

Places to go after-Theater?

What sort of music?

And is the theater in question in or around Times Square, or is this off- or off-off-Broadway?

Location doesn%26#39;t matter too much. We can always do taxi or subway. I hate local bands where I have never heard of any song. Also, I%26#39;m not a big jazz fan. Anything else I am good to go!

While you%26#39;re walking around town pick up a copy of the Village Voice (free) and near the back of the paper are listings for clubs, music venues, restaurants and the like. Places listed are all over town - and there is a good variety of entertainment etc. listed - something should fit your liking.

Poppa

Are there any places or bands that play cover type music?

I%26#39;m sure there are!

The Village Voice as mentioned above would be a good place to start.

You have given minimal info about what type of music and location - most likely the reason you have been getting little response.

Well, I guess it%26#39;s b/c we really don%26#39;t care! And location doesn%26#39;t really matter, b/c we can always cab it anywhere. We just are looking for a good place to listen to music that is not jazz, and has cover songs we can know and can grab a few drinks. We are not too picky!

9C

700 E. 9th St. at Ave. C (212) 358-0048

Country and Bluegrass bar with live music every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Hours: Monday to Thurday from 7pm - 4am, and Friday to Sunday from 5pm - 4am. Ages 21 and over. No cover. Subway: F to 2nd Ave.; 6 to Astor Pl.

I%26#39;d def go to Cafe Wha? on MacDougal Street. Their house band does a lot of covers. Take any of the A, C, E, B, D, F, or V lines to W. 4th Street station. Exit at W. 3rd St. (front of train if you%26#39;re coming from uptown.)

Or, nearby, you can go to the Red Lion or Kenny%26#39;s Castaways, both on Bleecker Street.

I%26#39;ve never been to Prohibition on the UWS, but Murphguide and Yelp.com says they have cover bands:

You can also use these tools to search ';cover bands';

For something completely different, and a very NYC experience, how about going outside your typical zone and going to a sing-along piano bar? Belt out ';Some Enchanted Evening'; and get showered with applause!!!

Try these:

Don%26#39;t Tell Mama (in theater dist.)

Arthur%26#39;s Tavern

I%26#39;ve never been inside, but this place, Smith%26#39;s is in the heart of the theater district and has live music.

I second the Cafe Wha? recommendation.
