Trip Report - Part 3

Day 6

Didn鈥檛 get up until around 9am after our late night so we skipped breakfast. We headed straight for the subway to 8th Ave %26amp; 14th St but the subway seemed to have ground to a halt at Union Sq (we never found out why). We were heading to Greenwich Village so headed out of the subway station and got a cab to Chelsea Market. We鈥檇 heard how good fat Witch brownies were so headed there - we knew we were getting close to it because of the intense chocolate smell. We bought 4 and to be honest, we were a little disappointed, they were nice but nothing special. The cup-cake shop next door however, was amazing. It鈥檚 worth a visit just to look at all the cakes! We left the market and headed along Greenwich Street, Charles Street and turned up Leroy Street where we ended up finding a great street market that spread over Bedford St, Barrow St and Christopher St. There were some really nice stalls and sold everything you could think of from books, to jewellery, to soap and clothes. There was even a little animal welfare stall with the cutest pair of kittens ever! We bought some fresh lemonade from a stall and headed over to the Slaughtered Lamb which was really good. Friendly service and great food. We both had a grilled chicken sandwich and fries and really enjoyed it. From here we headed to Bleecker Street and had ice-cream at Cones - so many flavours to choose from - decisions, decisions. I ended up with chocolate and mint choc chip. My husband had vanilla and cake dough. Really nice and well worth a visit. We wanted around Bleecker Street records before relaxing for a while in Father Demo square.

We then got back on the subway to Macy鈥檚 Herald Square where I bought myself a little Macy鈥檚 bag and some cookies to bring home for my friends at work. We then headed back to the hotel stopping at a deli for a sandwich to eat in our room (we鈥檇 decided we were too tired to go out again that evening).

Day 7

Our last day. We packed our cases and checked-out. We skipped breakfast again because we had lunch plans. Our first thing to do was head back to Tiffany鈥檚 on the subway. When we were there earlier in the week I鈥檇 spotted some really nice sunglasses and we鈥檇 decided if we had money left by the end of the trip we would go back for them. We arrived at Tiffany鈥檚 at around 11.20am and to my horror they were closed! There were no visible opening times so I contacted a friend at home in England who checked the opening times for me. Apparently on a Sunday they don鈥檛 open until 12. I was determined to get the sunglasses so we waited - and it was worth the wait. I am now the proud owner of the most gorgeous sunglasses - I think my husband is still reeling from the shock! We had then been due to go and see the original Winnie The Pooh at The History and Social Science Library at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street but because of the unexpected delay we decided to leave that until our next trip. We got back on the subway where we took the 6 train to 125th Street. We later found we would have been better going to 116th Street but you learn as you go. We walked to Patsy鈥檚 on 1st Ave 117 %26amp; 118 St for pizza (this had been recommended to us) and it was great. We did feel a little intimidated walking around this area but this was probably just down to the fact that we don鈥檛 know the area and it wasn鈥檛 very busy - not somewhere I think I would feel safe at night. It was fine though and Patsy鈥檚 pizzeria is well worth a visit. We then headed back to the hotel where we had a drink in Sir Harry鈥檚 while we waited for our stretch limo. The limo company called and said they had arrived early because the traffic was bad and they wanted to make sure we got to the airport on time. The limo company, Strusser, were great. They鈥檙e a little more expensive than some companies but I鈥檇 rather pay extra and get great service. The limo was great and the driver was really friendly without chatting too much. We arrived at the airport in plenty of time for our flight back which was a little late leaving and we had some turbulence. Our trip was officially over and the lust to get back to NYC has already set in. Bring on the next trip!
