Looking for 5 days rental in September.Have found a site called Urban Living-New York. Web address is vacation.new-york-apartment.com %26amp; lodgis.com.
Has anyone heard of this company? or have used them for apartment rental?. The names have poped up in Trips forum , but nothing definite about being legit.

vacation apartment rental New YorkA friend used Lodgis in Paris but renting apartments in New York is a whole new ball game.
Have you read the FAQ post on renting apartments? I suggest you do so, as then you%26#39;ll understand why most regulars on this forum try to direct tourists to hotels or B%26amp;Bs. New York rental laws are like no other and in many cases it%26#39;s illegal to rent short-term. Scammers are also rife.
vacation apartment rental New YorkOff hand, both of those first two links look illegal. They%26#39;re both prewar tenement buildings, and it%26#39;s against the law to do short term rentals in a prewar tenement building. (The certificates of occupancy demand long-term residency.)
Thank you both for your feedback.
It is such a shame that these bogus sites destroy one%26#39;s faith in the holiday apartment rental.
I%26#39;m sure there is legit business eg nyhabitat.com that suffer because of this lack of trust.
Again thanks

Buck
I too considered an apartment rental for my vacation, but having listened to the advice from TA members in NY, I do not think it is just a lack of trust that is the problem. It is that short term let is not legal. There seems to be very little legit business about because it is not legit.
Keep reading the list, or do a search and you will hear the sorry tales. Better to book a legit hotel. Some suites are available if that is your requirement.
Here we go again!!!! The never ending search for that one apartment that is not illegal and really exists. Hold on tight--how many posts will this thread get?????
Not many, I for one am tired of them and even more tired of those attacking me for being rude.
The poster should read the FAQ as to why renting an apartment is a bad idea in NYC and why a hotel is his/her best and honestly only option and then go from there.
In planning an upcoming trip to Manhattan, I have been following this forum carefully. While those offering advice on the forum are generally very helpful on most matters, when it comes to the subject of renting private apartments, many seem to almost crusade against the practice. Yes there have been scams and yes some rentals are not approved by the landlord, but the fact remains that many people rent apartments in NY every day and are extremely happy with the results. I personally know three professional families who have done so recently and have highly recommended to us that we follow suit. They got to meet the locals, obtain their advice, live in their residential neighborhoods and they paid reasonable rates for nice locations. If you are looking for objective guidance on the subject of apartment rentals, I am not sure you will find it on this forum.

DUH!!! Because most of these apartments are ILLEGAL!!!
The person from Little Rock seems to not care about the damage ILLEGAL apartment rentals, the type he is advocating, do to the residents of this city. So long as he gets his blessed good deal the heck with those who live here.
You can do this but you will not be living like a ';resident'; you will be living like a illegal flop house squatter because that%26#39;s what you are. Delude yourself all you want, but sorry that%26#39;s simply the fact.
