I%26#39;m thinking of taking my daughter and 3 or 4 of her friends into NYC (we live in NJ) to celebrate her 13th bday. Looking for suggestions for places to go and eat, that are reasonably priced. Had thought of taking an afternoon cruise around statue of liberty and lower manhattan. then perhaps dinner and trip to top of the rock. Possible wandering around Toys r Us or FAO store. Any suggestions of casual places to eat? Saw recommendations for Carmine%26#39;s -- would that be good for 6 girls?
What other places should I consider? I don%26#39;t want to get them so tired out, but want them to be kept busy. Thanks!

What a lovely birthday for your daughter (and her friends). I recommend eatting at Ellen%26#39;s Stardust Diner. The waitstaff sing, really sing, throughout the meal. They appear to be ready to break into Broadway. It is great entertainment! The food is diner type food but not bad (not memorable but not bad). I took my daughter%26#39;s Girl Scout troop there for dinner and they loved it! It%26#39;s located at 51st and Broadway. Moms

Ellen%26#39;s is a fun idea and very convenient to Top of the Rock. For the cruise, you might consider the
nywatertaxi.com
If you do this on a weekend, you could get the hop on/off passes so they can explore a bit of downtown. (ie get on and off the boat). I will warn though that the boat only goes to each stop once an hour so you have to time returns carefully. ;)
thought I read on previous poster some time ago, a place where the girls can have their makeup done, hair etc can anyone recall this place.
For makeup, Sephora but 13 is pushing it maybe. ;) Manicure might be fun. I go to Bloomies Nails on 55th b/w 5th %26amp; 6th, not far from Ellen%26#39;s and Top of the Rock and see parties of girls in there sometimes.
If it%26#39;s in your budget, I would get tickets to Legally Blonde. The girls would love it and there are discount tickets on broadwaybox.com.
Junior%26#39;s opened a Time%26#39;s Square location, so they might like that. Carmines serves family style, so it%26#39;s good if the girls would like the same food, because you only need to order probably 2 platters for the table. If each wants a different entree, you would have wayyyyy to much food.
may want to read part 2 of flyinmom reports, mentioned School of flying Trapeze %26amp; flea markets etc sounds like fun to me.
Lush is a bath and body store that is really cool; when I was 13 I was more of a makeup/bath stuff person, so I%26#39;d go with that. And Sephora! Urban Decay, Too Faced, and POP Beauty are lines that they carry that are fun and not too grown-up looking. And there are testers of most all of the products, so everyone can have fun :)
A fun, funky cosmetics store is Ricky%26#39;s. There is one located on Broadway near 39th, I believe. It is a strange mixture of Make Up, Claire%26#39;s Boutique and Spencer Gifts. Odd but somehow quite satisfying to a teenage girl! Moms
