One way rental to Boston?

I%26#39;d like to rent a car and drive from NY to boston, but cheapest rate I can find is $400. I actually got the rate down to $145, but taxes and the $199 drop off fee killed it.

Any one know a rental company that will waive the drop off fee? I%26#39;ve sued every contract code3 I can come up with.

Lookign for July 30- Aug 4, morning for both.

I wish you the best of luck! We did this last summer. We went from NYC to Watkins Glen, NY. We dropped the car off in Syracuse, NY. It was sooo expensive!!! The $199 rate is actually really good. I hope someone else on here knows of some different informtion, but in my situation, I couldn%26#39;t find anything less expensive. I would have to ask my boyfriend, but I want to say it was like $600 for 4 days. I just remember saying oh my God! :o(

Many companies will kill you with the drop off fee for one way rentals unless they want the car to get to your ultimate destination. I would just suggest you check out every company with rental offices in both NY and Mass and see what you find.

1) Unless there are a lot of you, train or bus is likely to be cheaper.

2) If you get out of NYC/Manhattan to pick up, it may be cheaper. Look at Jersey City, White Plains, etc..

If plans are flexible, consider renting in Boston and dropping off in NYC.

If you use mass transportation (the bus) to get to Boston from NYC, and then the ferry from there to Ptown...you could simply rent a car on the Cape for a few days to explore before leaving the rental on Cape and heading back to Boston on the ferry.

The ride from NYC to Boston is tedious; not a meandering kind of drive. You%26#39;re really not missing anything by leaving the driving to the bus company.
