My wife and I will be in NYC and would like to explore prospect park and the surrounding area. As pizza fanatics we would like to know if there is a place or places near prospect park. Thanks.
Pizza near Prospect Park
Prospect Park is pretty big - not as big as central park, but still huge. So when you factor in say, a three block ';buffer'; on either side, you%26#39;re probably encompassing 100 or more places to get pizza. There will probably not be a consensus as to which is the best.
Having said that, I can recommend a place that opened near my house recently - Enzo%26#39;s brick oven Pizzeria on Prospect Park West and 16th Street (this is essentially Windsor Terrace, at the border of Park Slope). This is more of a sit-down place, not a joint for a quick slice. But it%26#39;s very good, not very expensive, and last I checked, they didn%26#39;t have a liquor license, so you can bring along a bottle of vino if you%26#39;re so inclined.
Pizza near Prospect Park
Franny%26#39;s is usually picked as one of the best pizza spots in New York and it%26#39;s just a few blocks from the park, up Flatbush:

I should have narrowed it down. We would also like to check out park slope, so that area will probably be our focus.
The best pizza I%26#39;ve ever had is from La Villa, 261 5th Ave, near 1st St. That%26#39;s in the heart of Park Slope, probably a 5-10 minute walk down 1st St. from the park. They make it both thin crust and Sicilian style. You can get it as simple or as elaborate as you want. I like the Speciale with thin crust. It%26#39;s pleasant and bright inside with friendly service. You might wait awhile for a table on weekends, but it%26#39;s worth it.
Yes, La Villa is very good in the area. I%26#39;ve never had Franny%26#39;s but I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s better or just as good as La Villa.
