Hey everyone,
Can someone please tell me which of the two Sheraton hotels in NYC is better in terms of value and quality?
Also, does anyone know of any other %26#39;cheaper%26#39; big name hotels in Manhattan as I nearly booked the Wellington Hotel and it looks absolutely awful! It would be nice to find a well priced hotel which isn%26#39;t old, dirty and dusty.
Thanking anyone in advance :)
Which Sheraton is nicer?
Not sure why you need a ';big name'; hotel. There are plenty of ';small names'; that are quite good. All of the Affinia.com hotels are suites (like apartments with kitchens) and it%26#39;s a well run chain. The Eastgate Tower is usually cheapest and is pretty dated, but very clean and well run. The Aff. Dumont is a favorite for a lot of people with good sized rooms (which they all have) and views of the Empire STate building in many rooms.
I don%26#39;t care for either of the Sheratons. They%26#39;re both dated and in need of renovation. If it has to be a big name, the Hiltons are better. The NY Hilton is huge (like the Sheraton) but very good location and well run. If you want a Sheraton/Starwood brand hotel, the Four Points Sheraton Chelsea is newish and very nice.
All of the Hampton Inns are nice and well run. The one called ';midtown east'; is usually best value. (the one on the upper east side is not convenient at all for typical tourist trip).
Which Sheraton is nicer?
We have stayed at the Wellington several times, yes it%26#39;s old, but well kept, location is excellent and they offer some decent specials on pricing.
What is your budget, NYC lodging is expensive.
As for the Sheraton%26#39;s, have you checked their websites for pricing?????
Good luck.

Thank you for your replies. The reason I asked about the Sheratons is that I am a Starwood member and both the Westin and St Regis are a little out of my price range. I have budgeted for no more than $430 per night and both of the Sheraton hotels have room rates at $420. The Wellington room would have costed $370 per night and it seems a little steep in comparison. I will have to do some more searching. And thanks nywiz, the Affina brand looks very nice indeed. Thank you for the help :)
There are other Starwood hotels that would be better options. As I said, the Four Points is very nice. The Westin in Times Square is also nice.
Any of the W%26#39;s except the W NY are good. (W NY has tiny tiny rooms but location is ok)
I havent been inside any of the Sheratons since right around 9111 but they weren%26#39;t and at all just standard. One of them has a roof top pool. I can stand in front and tell you which one but don%26#39;t know how to describe it since they are both so close to each other.
The one thing that did impress me about them is the security. They had some of the best security. One of them also has a nice breakfast buffet.
However someone did point out the W brand is much nicer here in NYC and that is true. The W brand is much more expensive too. My favorite is W Union Square. Great area too.
oops meant to say since 911
If you can get a price you like at the Westin, it is a nice property. Try to get a room that ends in ';29';
